NO PAIN NO GAIN

HOPEFULLY THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ME POOR GUY
EVERYTHING YOU COULD ASK FOR IN A GYM AND OUTDOORS IN THE FRESH AIR AND THE BEST PART IT'S FREE

IT TOOK A LOT OF WILL POWER TO GET THIS OLE BOY UP AND GOING

AND LOOK AT THE SMILE ON HIS FACE AFTER JUST A FEW DAYS

Well ,I took the Doctor's advice and got myself on a exercise program. The exercise wasn't to bad , the thing that was the hardest for me was the program. You see I'm so use to sleeping-in every day and staying up late at night and taking my famous afternoon naps in the ole hammock , that I just could not find the time to fit this thing called a program into my busy relaxed ,no stress ,do what I want or don't want to do ,day.Any of you out there have the same sort of problem? Now come on and be honest.Well,Ciejay had a long talk with me and ,I had a really long, hard talk with myself , and decided that I could do this thing . That was a month ago and I am happy to report that last week at my monthly doctors check-up I had lost two kilo, I know ,it was hard for me to believe too, and I even lost a inch in my waist line, It want be to long till they can't call me BIG PUNG anymore.
I took , a not to stressful approach, I start in the morning at 7:am with a brisk medium paced walk of about 2 kilo, come home and do 25 sit ups and 10 push-ups and 5 minutes of jumping jacks, and then jog about 1/2 kilo to the city exercise equipment and ride a few of the machines for 30 minutes and then walk home and take a shower and start my busy day, all that takes about 1 1/2 hours .After the first couple of days I felt like a new man (still look the same) and started to feel good about this thing called exercise and maybe it's a good thing , especially for us older folks.

Ciejay is real proud of me and the Doctor congratulated me for finally taking his advise serious.Even my neighbors are all waving at me as I pass by their homes and the lady at the market said to me yesterday YOU HANDSOME MAN.-----!!!!WOW. Think I'll keep it up for a few more weeks and, just maybe it will start to be part of my program. Malcolm

Hi Malcolm,
You are wsie enought to know that you shoudln't over do it. Malko po malko as we say here, little by little. Making is a daily and regular routine is a good idea, but realsie that the rest and time for recovery is as important at the exercise.
Keep it up Malcom, you wil be doing yourseff a big favour and also CieJay who will worry less.
Take Care

Hi Malcolm, now I feel guilty! It must be an expat thing, since Talen was blogging about exercise the other day.

I too was going to do an article about my LACK of exercise!

My excuse is the heat and humidity-I promise I will start in the cool season-honest!

Glad to see you back, maybe the computer missed you and decided to break down.

I am also feeling guilty! I have been losing weight due to too much work which is great but i need to tone up my body and your post has given me the motivation i need!

I love the photos and the exercise program should continue to knock those pounds off and give the hammock a few more years of life to boot. I have got to agree with Martin and say that recuperation and rest are just as important. That is quite a strenuous routine you are putting yourself through especially in that sort of heat, fair play Malcolm, keep it up and I bet that evening beer tastes even better nowadays.

Thanks for all the great comments and the at- a- boy's I needed them , even tho I am seeing a little results and am feeling better about my self , it still takes a lot of will power to get up and get going everyday , but as my Doctor said "the benifits will out weightall the negitive feelings" soooo I'm hanging in there. Don't feel guilty Mike...I may have written about exercise but that doesn't mean I've been doing it.

I need to get in gear and start working out myself. Congrats Malcolm on getting the ball rolling.

It's still amazing to me that most Thai communities have these free exercise area's and yet in America the land of the free there is no such thing!

Malcolm, unfortunately, our farang DNA packs the pounds on our bodies, and the older we get the more it tends to do that! i myself have to spend a considerable amount of time on exercise in order to manage my own health. it's hard to get started and some days i don't feel like doing it but i am always rewarded with a sense of well-being afterwards. exercise is a worthy goal and i'm very glad to see you pursuing it!
