ONE MAN (I MEAN WOMEN) ENTERPRISE

SMALL RESTAURANT , BUT GREAT FOOD THE SUN UN EATERY
A LITTLE LANDSCAPING , ---------------- TO PLEASE THE EYE

TIP HARD AT WORK , ONE OF HER MANY JOBS AT THE RESTAURANT, AND ALWAYS WITH A SMILE --------- SHE IS THE CHIEF ,COOK AND BOTTLE WASHER AS THEY SAY WHERE I COME FROM
A TABLE FULL OF BANANA CHIPS READY FOR THE SUGAR OT SALT COATING AND BAGGIES TO BE READY TO SELL

THIS BATCH WILL BE SUGAR COATED FOR THE SWEET TOOTHED FOLKS

SHE COOKS IN PALM OIL TO BE SOMEWHAT HEALTHY OF A SNACK
THIS SLICER IS HOME MADE , A PIECE OF WOOD BOARD WITH A KNIFE BLADE ATTACHED

I am forever amazed and impressed at all the folks here in the LOS that self employed and so full of energy and so energetic that they are forever looking for something that they can do to make money . I ask myself the question all the time "is it just the desire to be self-sufficient or it is just a Thai thing" , they all seem to have that desire to be their own boss and to show their learned and handed down skills whenever possiible, and for this I take my hat off to them.

We (Ciejay and Me) were at a little roadside restuarant the other day , not far from home. The lady ,Tip is a great cook and everything is so clean , that I find myself eating there quite a bit . ha ha . I have noticed from time to time , and have of course, bought various snacks, displayed on a table out front of the small food shop( TODAY WAS BANANA CHIPS) , thinking that they were things made by some of the local folks and that Tip (the owners name) had let them have the space in front to sell their snacks , never in my mind did I imagine that all these snacks and goodies were made by the owner herself. ( I don't know where she finds the time to do it all ,restuarant , family , home , kids and snacks to sell , and all the time with a smile . I should'nt be surprised to much , after all this is Thailand and this is just another reason that I'm " RETIRED IN THAILAND AND LOVING IT." Malcolm

What she is cooking looks very good. There are a lot of industrious people in rural Thailand...they pretty much have to be. They also support each others business instead of trying to undercut each other.

Great pics Malcolm...now I'm hungry!

Anything that has the word chips in it gets my interest. Computers, casinos and especially food.

I like the look of these and I'm going to hunt them down on my next trip. Do you know the Thai name for them?

These self employed Thai people really do work hard to make their living and for many it's work in the baking sun. If I owned a hat I'd take it off to them. Good post cowboy.

Martyn , I think Ciejay said "kuly chab " at least that's what my untrained ear picked up , I call them deep fried bananas . Thanks for the read. I get them before they coat them with anything and it's a good snack for us folks fighting the sugar thing. Take care. Malcolm

I was looking at the first two pictures and what struck me is how clean and tidy her place is. It's also pretty and would make a great place to stop, eat and relax. Malcolm, you certainly have an eye for food! I'd love to have some of those banana chips now, maybe sprinkled with cinnamon and (a bit of) sugar.
