GROWING OLD

Getting old is not all bad and there are lots of pluses and benefits to getting older , and if I can remember some of them I'll share them with you , just can't think of any right off the top of my head . ha ha ha

A friend of mine, Stan found these somewhere and sent them to me , I laughed a little and then relaized that most were true and good advise , hope you get a laugh or two also , after all whats a day without a little laughter. See if you can relate to any of them (just for fun )

First ~ Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Second ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Third ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Fourth ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra, and carrying out the garbage , and cleaning the yard every Saturday , before your folks would let you go to the Sat. movie picture show(as we use to call them ) .

Fifth ~ You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

Sixth ~ I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.

Seventh ~ One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.

Eighth ~ One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.

Ninth ~ Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

Tenth ~ Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it's called golf

And finally ~ If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you are old. Whats a day without a little laughter.

I'm sooooo glad that Ciejay is younger than me and tells me all the time that I'm not getting older , "I'm getting better" and she plans on keeping me around for a long time , and thats just one of the reasons why , I'm RETIRED IN THAILAND AND LOVING IT . Malcolm

Malcolm I tend to agree with the list. I don't really feel old but the occasional glance in the mirror usually reminds me.

I wouldn't wish to be a kid again, in fact like you I am happy with my lot and lucky to have settled here for my R & R.

Well put M.

Words of wisdom indeed.

It's all relative. In my book old is someone older than me. Unfortunately there are not too many of those people around now.

Malcolm, you have a great way of looking at aging and I have to agree with much of what you said.

I'd much rather look a little traveled and weathered than turn back the clock.

Being a golfer, I got a great laugh from your comments about pounding sticks on the ground! Malcolm, you are never old if your heart is young and that is what is most important.

Thanks for a great post.

We're all getting older but I guess it's how you handle it and you do seem to have the knack when it comes to that. Thailand is great for stopping the aging process, must be the sun and the happy smiling Buddhist people. I reckon the youthful Ciejay is going to keep you young for a long time yet and those afternoon hammock naps are a big help too. Best wishes cowboy.

Hello Like everyone else I guess getting old is just a state of mind , my problem is some days my mind can't remember which state it's in ha ha.

Mike , I look in the mirroR somedays and I hardly know the fellow looking back at me , I have to turn from side to side like in a police line-up to be sure it's me .

A-, thanks for the read .Words that come from lots of years in the field . ha ha

Peter, I agree not many of the ole boys I knew and grew up with around any moreeither, we use to say when we parted company "see ya ,here, there , or in the air , I guess lots of them are waiting , It's going to be quite a reunion , BUTTTTT!!!!!!! I think I'll skip the party as long as possible.

Talen, One thing for sure , I don't have to hire a make -up artist to make me look old and warn . ha ha

Seven, Well I guess I should feel pretty young , BECAUSE , when the surgeon that did my triple by-pass visisted me in my room , he said I had the heart of a 19 year old , If only he could give me the body to go along with it haa ha.

Martyn, yes tg for Ciejay and her constant nagging at me to excerise and eat right and take care of my self it makes me soooo tierd I have make a run for the hammock .

Hi Malcolm and CieJay,
Some good philosophical points to contend with, a very good find. If you consider 'being old' something that will always be in the future then you will always have that to look forward to - Forever!
You are a lucky man Malcolm, but don't forget you make your own luck in this world! :)
